Some Changes

A few changes are coming to Stampin' Up! that I want to let you know about.

First, with the rising prices of gas and everything else, Stampin' Up! will be increasing the minimum shipping from $3.95 to $6.95.

How will that effect you? Well, if you place small orders and have them shipped directly to you (Customer Direct order), you will be affected by the change. For example, an order of $30 would pay $3.95 shipping. Beginning April 1, that order will pay $6.95 shipping. Orders over $69.50 will pay 10% shipping.

For those of you who are Workshop Guests or Clubbers, you will continue to pay 10% of your order for shipping, regardless of total.

I've always tried to help people save on shipping by combining their small orders with my own or with my club orders. I will continue to do this. That may mean waiting a little longer for your order to be placed. When I do combine shipping, that will mean you will need to pick your order up from my Miamisburg home. I keep a tub on my patio, so that you can pick up your order at your convenience instead of trying to juggle each of our schedules. But, it's your choice--either Customer Direct or Combined Order (when possible).

On a more positive note, Stampin' Up will start accepting customer credit cards for orders sometime in April. I will let you know when this begins. I have always accepted credit cards, but prefer cash or checks so that I can avoid paying additional fees. But, once Stampin' Up accepts them, I won't have any fees to pay. So, charge all you want! Please remember that I only accept cash or checks for my classes.

I anticipate additional positive changes within the next few months as Stampin' Up! gears up for their 20th anniversary. I'll keep you posted!

Not-So-Mega Swap

Well, ladies, I sent an email about reminders for the Not-So-Mega Swap, but it may have found its way to your spam basket. So, I'll post here.

The due date for the Mega Swap is approaching, so I wanted to send a few reminders about the swap. Please contact me if you have any questions! Can't wait to see what you come up with!

I am going to have an Open Stamp Night for friends and anyone participating in the Mega Swap on Saturday, April 12. If you are interested in coming, please let me know by the 10th. Free event---just bring something for you to drink and maybe a snack to share, if you'd like. Time is 6:00 - midnight. We can order pizza if you want!

Details

TOTAL #: 10
Due Date: Wednesday, April 16
Pick up Date: Saturday, April 19

1. Please put all swaps together so I can easily pick up 2 for a person and move on to the next swap...don't have a stack with the left side of the swap and a stack for the right side of the swap. This confuses things.

2. If you have floaters (pieces not connected), please have them in individual ziplock baggies between the left and right side of the swap.

3. You need to have some sort of layering on the page and some type of embellishment (ribbon, brads, eyelets, embossing, etc.). And of course, ALL Stampin' Up supplies!!

4. Please make sure you do quality work!!! It doesn't have to be super complex, but quality. There needs to be stamping on all pages of the spread.

5. Please, do not plan on making them last minute...make them ahead of time so you have time to deliver them to me by April 16.

French Fry Pouch

Images © 1990-2007 Stampin’ Up!

These little pouches are so easy to make! You can find folding directions for them by clicking here. Just don't fold down the back flap. I also used my finger to push up the bottom to make more room for candy. Practice on a piece of typing paper first. Then break out that Designer Paper you have stashed and get busy! I plan on making these for Kyle's end of school treat. I used Starburst Jelly Beans because that's the only candy I have, but Runts would be perfect!

Recipe
Stamps: Tart & Tangy
Inks: markers--Real Red and Old Olive
Paper: Real Red, Bashful Blue, Whisper White, Summer Picnic Designer Paper
Accessories: 1 1/4 & 1 3/8 circle punches, Scallop punch, Small flat cello bags, Striped Ribbon

Spring Basket

Images © 1990-2008 Stampin’ Up!

I found the idea for this adorable basket on another blog and just had to make one! I used the Itty Bitty Backgrounds stamp set for the white dots on the basket. This set has been around for a while, but if you don't have it, get it! It is such a great set to have to add a little texture to your projects. Of course, the strawberry is from the Tart & Tangy set found in the Occasions Mini.

This would be a fantastic project to make at your next Stampin' Party. Contact me today to schedule a party your friends won't forget!

Cardstock: Wild Wasabi, Real Red, Whisper White
Ink: Craft White, Real Red and Glorious Green markers
Accessories: 1 1/4, 1 3/8 circle punches, scallop punch, white gel pen, yummy Starburst jelly beans

Easter Projects

Well, I'm cutting it close, but I am going to share a couple of Easter projects. Exams are finally over and I have some time! I used the set "A Good Egg" for both of these projects. I just love it! The first project is a gift I made for Kyle's pre-school teachers. Look at how cute this is!

Images © 1990-2008 Stampin’ Up!

This jar mix makes Bunny Smores! I haven't actually tried them, but I hear they are delicious. All you need is a 1 quart mason jar, graham crackers, bunny peeps, brown sugar, and M&M's. You can find directions for it in my Special Download file in the column to the right. I should have shown you more of the jar in the picture, but I focused too much on the direction card instead! Sorry about that.

This next project is a fun little basket that I made for the kids in Kyle's class. I found cute little Play-doh eggs at Target and put one in each.

Images © 1990-2008 Stampin’ Up!

These are super-easy to make and only use a 6x6 piece of cardstock for the box part.

Directions:
1. Cut 6x6” square of cardstock & cut handle 1/2" x 8"

2. Score 6x6 cardstock at 2" & 4", turn and repeat.

3. Trim the corners off each corner square.

4. Cut into the 2 score-lines on one side of the basket. Repeat on the opposite side.

5. Trim end flaps to about 3/4".

6. Now is the time to stamp your box, if you'd like.

7. Fold all score lines. Flip basket over so you're looking at the "outside". Place two rows of adhesive on both of the 3/4" sides flaps. Then press the first half of the criss-cross piece onto the 3/4" flaps on both si des.

8. Place roll on adhesive on the inside of the other criss-cross flaps and press the flaps into place.

9. Attach handle to the inside of the basket. I attached ribbon to mine first.

10. Decorate as you wish!

I hope you all have a very blessed Easter!

Email Issues

Hi Everyone!

I apologize for not posting in a long time. I've been busy with school and Kyle and I both got sick. Then, Kyle got an ear infection and now he's sick with a stomach flu. So, it's been real fun around here!

I am posting to my blog because I seem to be having email issues. Many people have not been receiving my emails--whether they're replies or new ones. If you have not received a response from me to an email you sent, I want to know that I have actually responded. Please don't think I've ignored you! You can check your spam folder and see if my response is there. If not, feel free to email me again or give me a call. Be sure to add my email address to your address book--stampingcarrie@yahoo.com. This might prevent my emails from going into your spam folder.

I am now super busy preparing for my weekend away at our Super Stampin' Weekend this weekend. I'm getting make and takes ready, sorting my retired stamp sets that will be for sale, and organizing my pictures. Nothing like waiting until the last minute!

If you are going to the Stampin' Weekend this weekend and have not received your Registration Confirmation email containing directions to the Lodge, let me know.

Valentine Stamp Camp

Today is my Mom & Me Valentine Stamp Camp and my regular Valentine Stamp Camp. I'm excited for both of them and am sure everyone will love the projects. I've already shared the Mom & Me samples, so here are the projects for the regular camp.

The difference between the two camps is that the regular camp is making chocolate nugget tins instead of Cupid Soup, making 4 love notes instead of 2, and receiving a whole pack of Bali Breeze Designer Paper.

The nugget tins are from Specialty Bottle. The tins themselves are pretty cheap at $0.80 a piece, but it's the shipping that hits you! I paid around $13-14 in shipping for 25 tins. The company has so many different types of tins and bottles. Lots of fun items to be altered.

Blog Candy #1

I meant to do this when my counter hit 500, but I think that was around Christmas and I just never got around to it.

So, what is Blog Candy? It's a little gift from me to you for visiting my blog.

Who gets Blog Candy? A person who enters the Blog Candy "contest" and gets picked at random. This means I pull a name from a basket.

How do you enter? Leave a comment to this post telling me your favorite project from my blog. Click on Comments at the bottom of the post.

What do you get? I have a new, unopened package of Natural Hemp Twine and set of 4 fantastic cards made by yours truly!

The deadline for entering this blog candy contest is 9:00 PM Sunday, January 27. I will post the winner by the following morning. Good luck!

Typos & Recipe Swap Samples

Well, I have decided that it's really not a good idea to post to my blog or website past midnight anymore. If you have checked either of these in the last couple of days, you may have seen some discrepancies in my last couple of posts. Everything is updated with current information now, so be sure to re-read any posts that were of interest to you. Thanks, Kymm, for bringing this to my attention!

I just love how the Voila! Recipe Album turned out. I have never stamped on a linen album before and was a bit hesitant to try it. But, everything worked out and I am happy with the finished product. I mentioned that I would post some samples of Recipe swaps. These samples are from a swap that I participated in with some demo friends a long time ago. Pretty much all of the stamps you see are retired now, but I want to give you an idea of how to do the swaps.

Voila! Recipe Book

Here is the sample for my Voila! Recipe Book Class. The class fee of $35 includes your a 6x6 ring album (you choose color--Natural, Red, Moss, or Navy) and a set of page protectors. You will have room for up to 60 recipes. If you want to stamp on the front of your album like I did, I do not recommend getting the Navy album. My color scheme is Real Red, Always Artichoke, and Creamy Caramel. You can choose different colors for your album.

You may also add any or all of the following stamp sets to your class fee at "catalog price." That means you don't pay shipping or tax on the sets--saving you 17%!
From the Kitchen Of $27.95, Voila $23.95, and Voila to Go $15.95

We will make 6 dividers using the From the Kitchen Of stamp set and the round tab punch.

Ribbon Jars

Do you have scraps of ribbon laying around? Can you even find the baggy that you put them in? Well, I have a quick and easy project for you--a ribbon jar! Isn't this cute? It's perfect for displaying on a shelf. I'm going to make another one to put my punched out punches in.

Can you see the yummy new, striped ribbon in the jar? My spools just arrived yesterday and the ribbon is fantastic! I made these ribbon jars for my Clubbers. Club #1 just started a new round last night and I like to make them a little something at the beginning of each round.

Project Supplies:

Cardstock: Chocolate Chip (2 1/8 x 3 5/8"), Very Vanilla (1 7/8" x 3 3/8")
Ink: Purely Pomegranate, Chocolate Chip, Versamark
Stamps: r monogram, Rough Edges Alphabet
Accessories: 1 Quart wide-mouthed mason jar (I found a box of 12 for only $10 at Odd Lots), Clear Embossing Powder, Heating Tool, 1/8" hand punch, Linen Thread (@7"), any type of ribbon to tie around the top (@20"), Pretty in Pink, Very Vanilla, and Chocolate Chip grosgrain ribbon

Where in the World Could the Class Samples Be?

I know some of you are probably wondering what ever happened to me posting the pictures of my upcoming class samples? Well, I was waiting on my new catalog order for some new stuff to use for these classes, and forgot to expedite shipping. Which means that my new stuff won't be here until Monday! So, I hope to have everything ready by Wednesday or Thursday. Check back here for samples of my Mom & Me Valentine Stamp Camp, regular Valentine Stamp Camp, Voila! Recipe Book, and February Stamp-a-Stack samples.

Were you waiting to see pictures before RSVPing for a class? I will extend the RSVP dates for the Valentine Stamp Camps to Saturday, the 19th. That gives you some time to decide and still gives me enough time to prepare for the classes.

Baby Shower Ensemble

Okay, I am such a slacker! I haven't posted anything in a long time. I am taking 4 online computer classes at Sinclair this quarter and have been working on homework and other stuff for my classes. I will take 3 more courses next quarter, and will be able to re-certify my teaching certificate. My hope is to get a job at a virtual academy so that I can still stay home with Kyle.

Back to stamping! I threw my sister-in-law a baby shower last weekend. We had a small turnout, but it sure was fun planning! I stamped matching invitations and thank you notes to start. Then I wanted to carry over the lion theme to my games. As many of you know, I am addicted to the Scallop Punch and poking the little holes in each scallop. So, I punched and pierced all the little scallops for the 2-4-6-8 party favor boxes, too! If you've never made a 2-4-6-8 box, you're in for a treat. They are so easy to make and can be used for so many occasions. Here are the directions:

Start with a half sheet of cardstock (8 1/2 x 5 1/5). Score long ways at 2", 4", 6", & 8". Turn the paper and score at 2". You now have 4 tall boxes with 4 short boxes below. You have a skinny tab that is divided into two sections--one tall, one short. Use scissors to cut the lines of the 4 short boxes--stop when you get to the perpendicular line of the tall boxes. Now, cut off the small, skinny section. You are left with a skinny tab--cut each end at an angle. Fold on all scored lines. Apply strong adhesive (if you're doing this for a very special occasion or making these way ahead of time, I recommend using our Sticky Strip) on each of the small boxes and along the tab. Fold up small boxes to make the bottom of your box and insert the tab inside to close it. You can push in the sides of the box and close it at the top with ribbon like I did or just keep it open. Add a handle with ribbon.

So, after making the party favors, I decided to add more of those cute little scalloped circles to the basket I bought for "tray game." This is the game where you put a whole bunch of baby items in a tray or basket for people to look at and try to remember what they saw. The basket and its contents go to the Mama to Be, of course. I ran these scallops through my laminator and attached them to the basket with Mini Glue Dots. But, I didn't stop there! Have you ever played the Baby Food game--where everyone looks at jars of baby food without labels and guesses what is inside? Well, I just don't like the idea of not having labels on the food, so I cut strips of Designer paper to cover the labels. And, I added scalloped circles on the tops. Can you say obsessed?! After all that, I decided it was best to just STOP. I do think everything turned out really cute, though!

Checking Back In/New Catalog!

Wow! It's been a long time since I've posted. I really had planned on posting more and even had some great Christmas projects to share, but just got caught in the holiday rush. I hope you all had a nice Christmas. We had a great time. Now, we're gearing up for New Year's Eve and a baby shower that I'm throwing for Kent's sister, Erin. I'll share some of the baby shower projects soon.

For now, I wanted to remind you of some important dates.

  • The Fall & Winter Catalog is ending in a few days. I will be placing one final order on December 30 at 6:00 PM. If you would like to order anything, let me know by this date. Payment should also be received by the 30th. I have updated the Retired Accessory list. You can view the Retired Stamp Set list on the right side under Special Download Forms.

  • The NEW Spring/Summer Collection has arrived!!! I can't wait to show it to you! Stampin' Up comes out their main catalog twice a year now, so that is why it may seem EARLY to be hearing about a new catalog already.

Please let me know if you are interested in reserving a copy of one. They are a great resource for IDEAS, not to mention all the FUN NEW stamp sets and accessories jam packed inside. You won't be disappointed!

Hostesses and Current Clubbers receive a free catalog. While the catalog retails at $9.95, I sell them to my customers at my cost of $5. For the month of January, place an order of $30 or more and get one for free! You can start ordering from the new catalog on January 2.

  • Super Stampin' Weekend: Early Bird Registration is January 15. However, due to space constraints, we are cutting registration off at 30. Home Decor--Part 3 Christmas Wreath

I was so excited to finish this wreath! I once again used my Heat & Stick powder to adhere my glitter on the chipboard snowflakes. I don't use the red glitter very often, but it was perfect for this project. The two small snowflakes are missing their red rhinestone brads, but my order will arrive today so I can fix them later. The scalloped squares and star were covered with the Dashing Designer Papers. I just love this set of paper. I've been using it on all my Christmas decor items so that they match.

For those of you new to chipboard, there are a number of ways to cover it.
  1. Apply craft ink directly to the chipboard. I usually smoosh my chipboard piece into my large craft pad or use my craft spots to dab the color on. This gives you a smooth, velvet like finish.

  2. Apply craft ink and add embossing powder on top. You can use clear or use Iridescent Ice EP to give it some sparkle!

  3. Cover with designer paper. There are two ways to do this. The easiest way (and the one I usually choose) is to use your Anywhere Glue stick to stick your chipboard on a piece of paper. Then, working on your cutting mat, use a craft knife to cut off the excess pieces. The other way is two trace your chipboard piece onto your paper and cut it out. Use your Anywhere Glue Stick to adhere the paper. After either of these techniques, use your sanding block to sand off any rough edges. Use a nail file (the mini ones work great!)to get into small spaces.

  4. Cover with glitter. Smoosh Versamark pad on top of your chipboard piece, being sure to cover completely. Apply Heat & Stick powder and heat until the powder becomes liquidy. Pour glitter on top and heat just a bit more.

Day 3 Special

Today's special is . . .

Choose one item at catalog price (that means no shipping or tax will be added to the item---that's 17% off) when you make a purchase of $35 or more (before shipping and tax is added).
