October Scrap Class

Join me for my October Scrap Class on Monday, October 13 at 7:00 pm. The cost is $12 or FREE with an order of $30 or more (before shipping and tax). We will be making this adorable spooky layout using the Fall Fest stamp set and matching Framelits, the fringe scissors, and the Motley Monsters Designer Series Paper. Please RSVP no later than October 10 so that I can prepare your class supplies.

Stamp-a-Stack Samples

Thanks to those of you who attended my Stamp-a-Stack today!  I hope you enjoyed making your cards.  For those of you who couldn't attend, these are the last 2 of the 4 cards we made today.

The card on the left uses the Perfect Pennant stamp set  (item # 133227, $29.95 in wood or #133230, $21.95 in clear) which also coordinates with the Framelits set called Banners (item #132173, $26.95). We didn't use that on this card, though.  I added the Color Me Autumn Designer Washi Tape from the Holiday Catalog.

The card on the right uses the Calling All Heroes Photopolymer stamp set (item # 138002, $25.95).  This is such an adorable set for little boys or the super hero fans in your life!  It has so many stamps in the set that you can make an endless variety of projects with it.  This set is available in Photopolymer only.  Blocks A, B, C, and I are recommended.

Stamp-a-Stack October 5

Here are two of the cards we will be making at my October Stamp-a-Stack. The class is Sunday, October 5 at 2:00.  The cost is $15.  We will make a total of 8 cards--2 of 4 different designs.

Learn the Starburst technique and see how easy it is to create beautiful cards with the Work of Art stamp set (which is my personal favorite!). We will also be using the Calling All Heroes photopolymer stamp set to make an adorable card perfect for the little or big hero in your life!
As with most of my card classes, you will have the freedom to choose from various sentiments to make the type of cards you need most.

If you wish to attend the class, please RSVP and send payment by September 21 so that I have enough class kits prepared.  Don't forget to bring your own adhesive.

Swap sample #2

Here is another swap I made using items out of the new Holiday Catalog.  Yes, I know it's a little early for a Christmas card, but how could I pass up this adorable tree and matching punch?  You know you want it, too!

This card uses the Festival of Trees photopolymer stamp set (#135059, $15.95) and matching Tree Punch (#135859, $16.95).  I love this set!  It has 5 different trees and a few different ways of "dressing" them up.  It only comes in the photopolymer set.  The "joy" stamp is from the Endless Wishes photopolymer stamp set (#136829, $15.95).

I also used the Trim the Tree Designer Series Paper Stack (#135824, $6.95).  These little paper stacks are 4 1/2" x 6 1/2" and include 4 each of 12 double sided designs for a total of 48 sheets of paper.  I like to use these because they're cheaper than a full pack of designer paper and because I waste less paper when I cut into them.

My Digital Studio

 Images copyright Stampin' Up!

Today I want to share with you a quick project I put together for my husband's grandmother.  Her birthday is July 4 and we celebrate every year with a party at her house.  My husband took some pictures with his cell phone and wanted to give them to her in a frame or something.  The pictures he took weren't very clear when we printed them out, so I decided to dress them up a bit using the My Digital Studio program from Stampin' Up!  This was a very quick project due to time, but she loved it.

If you haven't tried My Digital Studio, you can get a free 30 day trial by going to my website:  http://www.stampinup.net/esuite/home/carrieclary/productline13.  Try it out. I think you'll love it!

Holiday Catalog is Live!

Today is the day!  You can begin ordering from the new Holiday Catalog!  You are going to LOVE everything in it.  Still need a Holiday Catalog?  Let me know and I can put one in the mail or you can pick one up if you're out my way.

My card today features some new items found in the Holiday Catalog.  I made this card for a demonstrator swap.

I used the For All Things stamp set and the Color Me Autumn Washi Tape.  Once again, I focused on the new In Colors.  I just adore the new 3/8" Stitched Satin Ribbon that comes in all of the new In Colors.

The Blackberry Bliss background is embossed with the Fancy Fan embossing folder for the Big Shot.  I love how easy it is to make tags using our Tag Topper punches.  I used the Angled Tag Topper (#133323, $22.95).

Fun New Stamps!

 Images copyright Stampin' Up!

Hello ladies!  I wanted to share with you a couple of cards that I made a while back for my new catalog open house.  The new catalog is filled with so many new, fantastic stamp sets and accessories.  I had a hard time narrowing down my choices for my first order.

The card on the left uses the very versatile Work of Art stamp set.  There is so much you can do with the artistic elements in this set.  I've seen flags, flowers, and more made with the stamps in this set.  Super cute!  I focused on using the new In Colors on both of these cards.  I just love all of these new colors.  The Blackberry Bliss (background on the card on the right) is fantastic.  We really needed a color like that.

The card on the right uses the Blended Bloom single stamp along with our new Blendabilities--alcohol based markers.  I am new to these type of markers, but I must say with a little practice I have already improved.  I was never very good at making highlights/lowlights with my aquapainter or blender pen, but the Blendabilities make this all so much easier!  Another great feature of these markers is that you can color on top of our rhinestones, pearls, and buttons to make custom accents for your projects.  I used the Daffodil Delight marker to color the clear button on my flower.  You can find the selection on page 212 in the big catalog.

I will be having a series of Blendabilites workshops beginning in October.  Each class will teach you some tips for using Blendabilities.   Details will be coming soon!

Teacher Appreciation Gifts

 Images copyright Stampin' Up!

Each year, I help out the PTO with the staff appreciation gifts.  I've made 2 in the past, but this year I just did one.  It is just a change up of a Christmas gift I made my clubbers a few years ago.  Don't you love these Ikea jars?!  They are only $3.99 for a 4 pack.  A friend of mine mentioned that Hobby Lobby had them on sale for $1 not too long ago, but I'm not sure what their regular price is.  It will save you a trip out to Ikea at the very least!

This stamp set is on the chopping board--the last day to order it is tomorrow!

Do I still know how to work this blog?!

 Images copyright Stampin' Up!

Well, I'm back--sort of!  But, I won't make any promises!  Kellan is 9 1/2 months now, so I have a little more time than before to work on this blog.   I still do my monthly stampin' clubs.  I also plan to start back with some classes this fall.   My current Scrappin' Club will end in July.  I have a great bunch of ladies who sure make stampin' fun!  A new Scrap/Card Club will begin in September.  There may be spots available, so let me know if you're interested.

What is Club?  To be a member of one of my clubs requires that you make a purchase of at least $25 before shipping and tax each month for the duration of the club.  One month, you will be our Hostess and earn the free merchandise from the club orders.  But, the best part is that you don't have to have the party at your house!  Each month we meet in my Miamisburg home and make a 12x12 layout.  We also swap cards or pages.  We made the layout above during the February Club.  The one below was made in April.

Slacker Blogger Message

Hello readers!  It has been so long since I've posted.  For those of you who keep checking back, I apologize.  I really always planned to start posting again, but kept putting it off.  I am still a Stampin' Up! demonstrator and plan to keep doing that.

I found out in December that we are expecting our 2nd child in August.  So, I have really toned down what I am doing as far as classes and workshops.  My current clubs end in June and I will not start any new clubs until January of 2012.  However, when those clubs start, there will be spots open to those of you who wish to join.

I will be doing a class or two each month beginning in July. I will keep you all updated on those events once they are planned.  I will be having some hosting incentives for those who plan a "book" party in July and August.  Stay tuned for more information!

I am also working on having my used stamp sale in the next few months as well as a Kids Cards Stamp-a-Stack  (cards for kids' birthdays, etc.).

For those of you who do not know, I am hosting a Stampin' Weekend March 18-20 in Houston.  Registration was due March 5, but I can extend it until March 10.  To allow the late registration, I will be omitting the $50 order which brings the price down to $120 for all weekend.  The weekend will include your meals, 2 make and takes, door prizes, and lots of fun!  Contact me ASAP if you wish to register.  Click here to view the registration sheet.

Lunch Box Notes #1

Images copyright Stampin' Up!
I participated in a Lunch Box Swap years ago and want to share them with you over the next couple of days to give you some ideas for your own lunch box notes.  These two samples above are "postcard" notes--meaning they don't open up like a traditional card.  The smiley face card has a fun shape and super fun googly eyes.  The balloons on the right were made by heating up some fun foam with your heat tool and stamping on the foam.  The sets used in these notes are all retired, unfortunately.  They are perfect for lunch box notes!

Don't forget about my Lunch Box Note class on August 9 at 7:00 pm.  We will make 5 notes for $10--you can see 2 of the 5 projects in the post below.  You can also sign up for an optional swap to get more fun notes.  RSVP is due by this Thursday, July 29.  Final total will be emailed out on Friday.

Hi Debbi!

This post is for Debbi, who so gently reminded me that it has been almost 3 months since I've posted.  I think she might be the only one who has noticed :) !  Anyway, for Debbi and anyone else who happens to read this blog, I offer my apologies.  I don't have any good excuses other than just not being in a stamping mood and being on vacation or the pool this summer.

That said, I will let you all know that I am making a comeback!  I have some things to share with you and some classes in the works.  The new catalog came out at the beginning of the month (let me know if you need one!) and it has SO MANY great new things that you will love just as much as I do.  Stay tuned!

Tealight Lollipops

This is the 2nd gift I made for the teachers for Teachers Appreciation Week. I saw this idea on another blog and had to try it. I used my glue gun to attach a 6" lollipop stick to the back of a clear tealight and adhered a 1 3/8 cardstock circle to the back of it. Our small cello bags are perfect for the cover. I actually trimmed mine a little--maybe to around 4 1/2". I used some old cording to tie the bag shut and adhered my blue gingham bow with a mini glue dot. I printed out the saying "Thanks for Lighting the way!" on my computer and punched it out with the small tag punch. The flower stamp is from the set Awash with Flowers. It will be available in the next catalog that comes out in July.

Mini Backpacks

I volunteered to make a couple of gifts for the teachers and staff at Kyle's school for Teacher Appreciation Week last week. I decided to make this adorable mini backpack that uses the Fancy Favor XL die for the Big Shot. This die is a MUST HAVE if you like to make mini boxes. It is SO easy to put together. I filled the mini backpacks with Hershey Kisses.

To make the backpack:
  1. Use Big Shot to cut out one fancy favor box. I recommend using the Extended Premium Crease Pad for this! Do not fold or adhere box together, yet.
  2. Cut a 3x3 piece of cardstock and rounded the edges of two corner. Score the straight edge at 3/4" and 1 1/4". This piece was adhered to the back of the box.
  3. I attached my star punches to this piece before I adhered it to the box.
  4. I used my Crop-a-dile to punch 2 holes through the lid and box-(I folded the lid at the crease so that I could punch through both layers.)
  5. Punch 2 holes near the bottom corners.
  6. Cut a 16 1/2" piece of ribbon.
  7. Thread the ribbon through the top 2 holes on the lid. Be sure the ribbon is even on both sides and leave a little handle at the top for the backpack loop. Tie knots so the loop stays put.
  8. Thread the ribbon through to the back of the box.
  9. Thread the ribbon through the bottom holes.
  10. Tie knots and trim.
  11. Use Sticky Strip to adhere box.
  12. Add Velcro dot underside of lid to close box.
Now, I just realized that you can see the ribbon that comes out of the back to look like the backpack straps! I'll take a picture of the back soon so you can see it.
