Christmas Stamp Camp

Well, I've just finished my nap after my Christmas Stamp Camp today. All the fun started for the ladies at 9:30 this morning and lasted until almost 1:00. I was exhausted! I meant to take pictures of everyone today and it totally slipped from my mind until they were eating lunch, but I knew they wouldn't appreciate me taking pictures then! Instead, I'll just share some pictures of the projects.

Here are the projects that they made today: Ribbon Bookmark, Domino pin and ornament, Decorated Candle, Altered Picture Frame, and Glass Etched Plate.


I also made these bags for them to put their items in. Aren't they too cute?! You'll find directions at the end of this post.


Finally, I made each of them a pocket calendar. I bought these at the Flower Factory, but you can find them anywhere. One of the Stamp Camp projects a couple years ago was a pocket calendar, but it ends this year, so I knew some of those ladies would need new ones. These use the new Hawaii Papaya designer paper. It was the first time I've used this paper and I have to tell you--it is gorgeous! I added Felt Fusion flowers from both color kits to complete them. The greeting at the bottom says, "The Best is Yet to Be." It is from the Level 1 Hostess set called "Best Yet."



SNOWMAN BAG
Supplies: White Gift Bag, 3 ½ x 8 ½ Basic Black cs, 1 ½ x 8 ½ Real Red cs, 4 x 1 ¾ Only Orange 8.5" x 11", 1 ¼ circle punch, 1” circle punch, Crimper, Alphabet stamp set of choice (mine is from the Taffy Alphabet) Whisper White ink pad, Pretty in Pink ink pad, sponge, scrap cs, Stampin’ Dimensionals

1. Cut only orange cardstock in half along diagonal (makes 2 noses). Run through crimper.

1. Adhere black cardstock at the top of the bag.


2. Stamp name on red strip using Whisper White ink.


3. Adhere red strip to black strip.


4. Punch out one 1 ¼” circle on a scrap piece of paper. You will use this as your stencil for the cheek “make-up.”


5. Punch out two 1 ¼” circles and five 1” circles from Basic Black cardstock.


6. Adhere two eyes in the middle of the bag.


7. Use your scrap circle stencil to apply make-up with pink ink on the cheeks.


8. Adhere the five 1” circles as a mouth.


9. Adhere the carrot nose with dimensionals.

Holiday Treats Series: Christmas Class

I have been meaning to let you know what the projects will be for the Christmas Treats class and now I can. We will be making a Santa treat box, pencil holder, and a cocoa pouch. I just finished making the projects and I absolutely LOVE how they turned out.

Top Note Frankie & Frankette

Oh, I am so excited to show you my latest creation inspired by a fabulous stamper named Cambria! This is a little treat holder. Put some candy in a cello bag and drop it in the box. So cute!


Directions for Face:

1. Use Big Shot to cut two Old Olive Top Notes and one Pink Passion (or other color for hair).


2. Cut the Pink Passion top note in half to make front and back hair and attach to the Olive top notes.


3. Punch two white 1" circles, one olive 1" circle, two black 1/2" circles, and one olive Round Tab.


4. Cut the olive circle in half, sponge with Old Olive ink and the cut in half and fringe to make eyelashes.


5. Cut the round tab in half for nose and sponge.


6. Adhere the face pieces as shown.


7. Use Black journaling marker to make stitches on face and back.

For Box

1. Cut a piece of cardstock to 6 x 10 1/2". I used Old Olive, but you could use the same color as your hair.


2. With your piece of cardstock facing so that the 10 1/2" side is horizontal, score at 4 1/4" and 6 1/4".


3. With the cardstock facing so that the 6" side is horizontal, score at 1 1/2" and 4 1/2".


4. With the 6" side facing up, cut along the score line that makes the skinny rectangles on all 4 corners--just cut to the perpendicular score line.


5. Use paper cutter to cut off 1 1/4" from the top of the skinny rectangles.


6. This step is optional--use scallop edge punch to scallop the skinny rectangles and the top of the large rectangles.


7. Adhere the Top Note face and back to the big flaps of your box. Be careful not to put adhesive where the hole for your ribbon goes or above the hole.
   


8. Fold in the flaps to make a box shape. Add adhesive where necessary to hold box together.


9. You could attach the larger sides to your small box to keep it together, but I used my 1/4" circle punch on both pieces so that I can slip a piece of ribbon in them to tie the box together

I hope my directions aren't too confusing. The box is really easy to put together once you figure it out and makes a fantastic treat holder on it's own without adding the Top Note pieces. I'll work on one to show you soon!

Big Shot Cards

Here are the two cards the ladies made at my Big Shot Class last week. You probably remember the first one from my October newsletter. This is a case of a card from a swap group I am in. I love the Scallop dies for the Big Shot. I think they are probably my favorite. Although, I sure like the Top Note die, too. You'll see why when I post an adorable Halloween project soon.


This next card is a case from another demonstrator named Patty. She has made some fantastic projects with her Big Shot.


I also showed the ladies how to make this fantastic gift card . I also cased this from another demonstrator. Love it!

November Card Kits

Okay, I'm back on schedule with my monthly card kits. I apologize to those of you who were waiting on October's kit. Time got away from me and before I knew it, it was too late! This month I am offering two different kits to make up for missing last month's. You can choose one or both.

What are monthly card kits?
Monthly card kits are a fantastic way to make cards if you like the stamping part and not so much the planning and cutting part! I cut all the pieces you need to make 12 cards--6 each of two designs. You receive all the consumable supplies, envelopes, and step by step directions that also give you an additional 2 card layout ideas that can be used with the combined contents of your card kit.

Each month I offer a Featured Stamp Set and a Featured Product. When you purchase the card kit, you receive these featured items at a discount I call "Catalog Price". That means you pay exactly the price that is listed in the catalog---no additional shipping and tax is added--around a 17% savings.

Each card kit requires specific items to complete the cards as directed. You will find a list of these items in the description. Choose to add these items, if you wish, or use what you have at home. These items are regular price with regular shipping and tax added.

Card Kit orders and payments must be received by the 15th of the month. They will then be available for pick up or mailed by the end of the month, often sooner. If you are choosing to order any of the featured products, payment is also due at this time or if you are ordering these items through my website, your order should be placed by the 15th.

What if you place your order for these items through my website? Well, since this is a new feature for my website, I have to come up with a way to give you your discount because I am unable to do that when you order through my website. Halloween Big Shot projects

Aren't these projects too cute?! These are two projects I featured at my Big Shot class last night. The ladies made the Owl treat bag and two cards. I'll show those another day.

The Owl uses the Top Note die, the scallop flower from Birds & Blooms, and the larger scallop from the Scallop #2 die, plus the 1/2", 3/4" and 1" circle punches and the small oval punch. The Witch's hat ornament uses the scallop circle from the Pennant XL die and the larger scallop from the Scallop #2 die. So cute and so easy to make.

Dracula Cello Bag

How stinking cute is this?! This Dracula is similar to the Frankie we made at my Halloween treats class last month. My sample uses the 1 1/4" circle punch, but would be better with the 1" punch. I had loaned mine to a friend and had to use what I had here.

1 1/4" circle punch, small flat cello bag, Stampin' Dimensionals, black marker, Whisper White cs, Lovely Lilac cs, and Basic Black cs, White Gel Pen

Thanksgiving Treats Class

These are the projects for my Thanksgiving Treats class this coming Sunday at 1:00 pm. I do have a couple spots available, so let me know by Friday if you'd like to attend. Cost is only $12

The Great Pumpkin Take 2

How fun is this?! Last year I made the globe version. Click here for directions for those. I had never seen this kind before. It works great as a pumpkin, but how about as a Christmas ornament? So easy to make---give it a try! I used regular cardstock, but our Designer Papers would be fantastic!

Directions:
Cut one strip 1"x6" (strip A), two strips 1"x7" (strip B), two strips 1"x9" (Strip C), two strips 1"x11" (Strip D). Arrange them in this manner: DCBABCD. Tap them on a table so all of the ends touch -> Staple this. Now just gather all of the tops, line them up, and staple them as well. I cut a 1 x 2 inch strip of Kiwi Kiss cardstock--although, I guess I probably should have used a brown for the stem. Fold it over and adhere it over the top section. I punched leaves with my Wide Oval Punch, cut them into a leaf shape, and adhered them to the side. Finally, I used my Crop-a-dile to make a hole at the top for my ribbon.

Soccer Projects

Kyle played soccer for the first time this year. As you know, soccer with 4 and 5 year olds really should be called "Bunch ball!" It was a lot of fun to see him learn about the sport and gain some skills. We were lucky to have two great coaches this year. And, the best thing of all, was watching him score his first and only goal at the last game in the last few minutes of the game. It was adorable watching him with the little proud smile on his face. So cute.

Anyway, I wanted to share the projects I made for his team. The bag was for snacks after one of the games. The little book is a mini photo album made with our 6x6 page protectors. I gave these to the boys during our pizza party at Marian's. I made a card for both coaches.

Newsletter Bloopers

I spend a great deal of time working on my newsletter each month. I am obsessive about checking for mistakes--whether it's with spelling or omissions, etc. So, I find it extremely embarrassing when I find a mistake like the one in my Wish List section of this month's newsletter. Yes, I do know the difference between "right" and "write", but didn't catch the mistake before I sent out the newsletter. Oh, geez!

I also realized that I forgot to tell you that the Holiday Mini Catalog begins this month. This is a fantastic mini catalog and you're going to LOVE it! I love the new ribbons, Felt Flurries, Designer Paper, etc. I don't think I'll tell you everything I've already purchased from it just in case my husband reads my blog! So many fun things! Stampin' Up! Survey Panel

Do you want to join the Stampin' Up! survey panel?

The survey panel is a group of people who receive email surveys about SU and its products. Surveys are sent periodically and you will receive a Goodie Box once you've been on the panel for 3 full months. They only need a specific number of people, so not everyone is chosen. I just thought I'd post this information in case they're looking for more people!

How often will I receive a survey?
It depends on our research needs. You will receive no more than one survey a week, but most times you can expect to receive one or two surveys a month.

How long are the surveys?
Typically it should take you between five and ten minutes to complete a survey. Every so often a fairly lengthy survey may be sent out that can take as long as 15 to 20 minutes to complete, but this isn't common. Short surveys that take only a minute or two to complete may sometimes be sent out as well.

When will I receive my Goodie Box?
Goodie Boxes are sent out every three months. The next scheduled goodie box delivery is late January 2009.

What kind of things are included in the Goodie Box?
The items included in the Goodie Box will vary. Typically the Goodie Box will include a stamp set, one or two ink pads or markers and an accessory item like a punch, paper, ribbons, or rub-ons. However, there is no guarantee that these will be the exact items. The retail value of each Goodie Box is typically between about $30 and $50.

Can I pick the items included in my Goodie Box?
No, not at this time.

I have been on the panel longer than three months but I haven't received a Goodie Box yet, why?
All Goodie Boxes are sent out at the same time every three months. Only panel members who have been on the panel for a full three months at that time will receive a Goodie Box. If you have been on the panel for less than three months you will receive a Goodie Box the next time around. For example, if you joined the panel in December and a Goodie Box shipment is scheduled to go out in January, you will not receive a Goodie Box in January because you have only been on the panel for one month. You would receive your first Goodie Box in April.

What if I forget to take a survey, will I still receive my Goodie box?
We understand that occasionally you may be unable to take a survey. However, you do need to complete at least 80% of the surveys sent to you in order to remain on the panel and receive a Goodie Box.

How long do I have to take the survey?
Typically the survey is open for a period of one week from the time the e-mail notifying you about the survey is sent. However, occasionally the survey will only be open for only a few days, so take the survey as soon as you get it.

Why am I sent to www.surveymonkey.com to take the surveys?
SurveyMonkey is the most effective, secure and easiest way for us to collect survey data. It is a web-based survey design and analysis tool utilized by hundreds of companies around the world, including several Fortune 100 companies.

I received an e-mail from research@stampinup.com is it legitimate?
Yes. This is the e-mail program we use to send the survey link to you.

How long do I get to be on the panel?
In order to give others who want to be on the panel the same opportunity, as well as to keep the data we receive fresh, we occasionally rotate people off the panel. Once on the panel, you will remain a panel member for at least six months, provided you are actively taking surveys. We anticipate that most panelists will remain active for a period of six months to a year. When it is time for Stampin' Up! to refresh the panel you will receive an e-mail notifying you that your time to be on the panel has come to an end.

Why does Stampin' Up! collect personal information such as my name, e-mail, home address, annual income, etc.)?
We will not share your information with anyone. We need your e-mail to send you the survey and we need your name and address in order to ship you your Goodie Boxes. Other demographic information, such as annual income and household size are needed so we can cross-tabulate the answers of survey questions into different groups for analysis. We are only interested in looking at the data in terms of categories and groups and do not analyze each survey on an individual basis.

Will Stampin' Up! try and sell me anything or recruit me to be a demonstrator?
No. This panel is devoted exclusively to research.

What if I want to purchase Stampin' Up! products, host a Stampin' Up! workshop, or become a Stampin' Up! demonstrator?
If you wish to purchase Stampin' Up! products, host a workshop, or would like to become a Stampin' Up! demonstrator, you need to contact us directly. Information for your specific area or region can be found at www.stampinup.com.

I applied to be on the panel but was not accepted, why?
If you applied to be on the panel but were not accepted, it is likely because we have received our limit of applicants. If this is the case, your name will be placed on a waiting list and we may contact you when we are ready to refresh the panel.

I no longer want to be on the panel, how do I quit?
You can quit at anytime by sending an e-mail to research@stampinup.com. Please allow us at least a couple of weeks to remove you from the system.

What if I need to change my personal information such as my e-mail address or shipping address?

Teacher Gifts

Each year that Kyle's been in preschool, I've given his teachers a gift at the beginning of the year. I like to add a note that says "Thanks for a great first week. We're looking forward to a fantastic year. Thanks for all that you do." The gift is small--usually some stickers, pencils, and stuff that they can use in the classroom. This year, I bought everything early and had it sitting in my stamp room to remind me to make a set of cards and decorate the tin. Well, that didn't work. I finally just delivered the little gifts last week. Pitiful, I know! The little box that you see holds 4 Pocket Notes, which are perfect for a little note to a loved one.

Big Shot Projects!

We had a great time learning about the Big Shot at my FREE Big Shot Class last night. Here are the two cards that the ladies made. I had four ladies sign up for to join the Big Shot Club. Why it is the fantastic Big Shot Doctor's Bag that is perfect for storing your Big Shot and some of the dies. Unfortunately, it is not mine. I borrowed it from my upline so that I could show it to the ladies at the class. Isn't is adorable?!

Here are a few more projects using the Big Shot. I have to tell you how cool this thing is! I've been loving it more and more as I've had a chance to play with it.

Party Favor Cones

Isn't this a cute little project? You have plenty of room to put candy or other treats. By simply changing the stamps and size of paper, you have adorable little Christmas baskets to hang on your tree. This project was made by my downline, Christine.

1. Start with a square piece of paper (this one is 8 1/2 x 8 1/2)
2. Wheel or stamp both sides of the cardstock as you wish.
3. Use a circle punch and punch a half circle from one of the corners (this will be the bottom of your cone).
4. With the punched corner facing your belly button, roll your cardstock into a cone shape.
5. Once you get the shape you like, add adhesive and close.
6. Use a hole punch to punch two holes. Add ribbon for a handle.
7. Add a stamped image like the flower shown, if you'd like.
8. Add crimped, shredded paper and whatever treats you want to your party cone!

Super fun and super easy!

Big Shot Classes

I am very excited to share with you the fantastic things you can do with the new Big Shot by Sizzix. This is a die cutting machine that will cut 50 different types of materials from aluminum to felt to beeswax! It is amazing!

I want to remind you about my FREE Big Shot Introduction class on Monday, September 29 at 6:30 PM. I will show you the Big Shot and what it can do. You will then take your turn at playing with the Big Shot as you make two cards. Please RSVP by September 26.

I will also be offering 3 Big Shot classes where I train you on how to use the various types of dies used with the Big Shot. Paper Display Board

I just finished this project and am so excited about it! This will hold some of the many papers that Kyle brings home from pre-school. Right now the board is sitting on my display rack that hangs on my wall in my basement, but once I get some picture hangers, I will hang it someplace else. I will do a class on this in October or November--just in time for Christmas. Click on the image to view a bigger picture.

Stampin' Up! Wish Lists

The holidays are coming! Do you really want another sweater that's too big or too small or not even close to your style? How does a nice box of Stampin' Up products sound? Tips for Ordering Stampin' Up:

1. Orders typically take 7-10 days to arrive--plan ahead and order early.

2. December is a busy time at Stampin' Up and for UPS--plan for longer shipping times. If ordering for Christmas, I recommend ordering no later than December 10 just to be sure your things arrive on time.

3. Individual orders are entitled to hostess benefits! Orders of $150 and up (before shipping and tax is added) get you free stuff. When ordering online, your hostess benefits will be calculated for you.

We Have Power, finally!

Okay, it has not been a fun 4 days. We were without power since 11:30 am on Sunday. We just got it back around 10 am today. After the busy stressful time of getting ready for Kyle's birthday party on Saturday (perfect weather for that day!), I just wanted things to go back to normal. No such luck. Luckily for us, we still had water. I haven't stamped, but did receive my club order so I can now work on a new calendar class I'll be offering in October or November. Stay tuned for details!

Join me in a new series of classes--Holiday Treats. Each month, I will teach you how to make 3 different types of projects that are perfect to make for your co-workers, child's class, birthday treats, etc. plus a card. This month we will focus on Halloween. We will make a Frankie Candy Bar Pull, Peppermint Patty basket, and a Lip Balm holder. You will make one of each project and receive the directions you need to make them again on your own. If you'd like to make more than one set, the cost will be an additional $10. **Bring your own adhesive and paper cutter with scoring blade.

Wow! I'm alive!

A big apology for not posting in almost two weeks! I have just been so busy with planning for a baby shower and Kyle's 5th birthday party, first week of school, soccer games and practices, getting classes ready, etc. Kyle's party is the 13th, so I'll be back on track after that.

I will be sending out my newsletter sometime this week, so look for it soon!

I will share a fun project with you, though. My downline, Christine, received this banner in a swap at Convention. Isn't it adorable?! It's hard to read, but it spells "create" (on the brown circles) and uses the beautiful Bella Rose designer paper. You can make the pennant pieces by cutting your own triangles (like I did on this Halloween banner from last year) and then using the new Scallop Border punch or use the new Big Shot Pennant die to make them.

I must confess to you since I can't tell my husband quite yet, but I purchased the Big Shot and some extra dies! I am so excited I can hardly stand it!! I've had just a little time to play with it though. Plus, all of the dies from the Big Shot starter kit are on backorder and won't ship until the 15th. My upline let me borrow hers, but I have to return them tomorrow. Bummer!

I will be having a FREE class on how to use the Big Shot on September 29. I show you how it works and unveil the details of my Big Shot Club. September Card Kit

Well, I'm ready to kick of my new series of Monthly Card Kits with a new and improved format! Baby Shower Gift

I wanted to share a picture of one of the gifts I made for my brother's girlfriend's shower. Isn't it adorable? This is a paint can decorated with Stampin' Up's fantastic Designer Papers and ribbons. I just love the mini scrapbook with room to jot down little happenings each month for the first year. The idea of the book is to also add a picture on the other side. Inside I put the mini scrapbook, some receiving blankets, and mini bottles of shampoo, baby wash,etc. Of course as an Aunt-to-Be, I had to buy some other fun stuff, too!





This project uses the Nursery Necessities stamp set. It is a really great set for making cards as well as scrapbook pages.
